After a month of overindulging on food, drink and the toxins that come with the festive period, January is a time to un-bloatm offload the damage and start some healthy eating. It’s tempting to begin radical diets or detoxes, when really what your body needs is some of the good stuff.
Being more mindful about what you eat will help you ditch the lethargic I can’t get out of bed vibe for the 2017, let’s do this vibe. - It comes packed with fibre and other nutrients making it a great snack option
- Each bite has significant levels of vitamins A, B6 and C, lots of lycopene, antioxidants and amino acids. There’s even a modest amount of potassium. Lycopene has been linked with heart health, bone health and prostate cancer prevention. It’s also a powerful antioxidant thought to have anti-inflammatory properties
- It has a high GI, however, due to the high amount of water in watermelon – calorie free but filling – you are likely to become satisfied from a meal containing watermelon before you ingest too much sugar to pose health risks.
